Thursday Thoughts: Lost & Moving Forward

I was going through old pictures this morning; it got me thinking about all the things that have happened in my life. I even thought to myself, “I don’t even know who this girl is anymore and maybe I need to find her.” Like anyone else, I have had my share of good times, bad times, times I’d wish I could forget, and times that warm me up when I think about them. What we never think about is how the events that take place in our lives changes us, molds us, grows us, and sometimes leaves us feeling stuck in a rut. When I was looking at all my old pictures, it made me question who I am now. As much as I wish that question could be answered, I really don’t know how to answer it. With marriage, divorce, suicide, death, heartache, depression, and all the bad that has made its way to my life…the good stood out even more. I have a roof over my head, do what I love, and have an amazing family and close friends and that’s what keeps spirits up these days.

As uncomfortable as I am in my own skin lately, I deal with the everyday hustle and bustle as it comes. At times I may even appear stronger than I am feeling these days, but I am human just like you. We often think going backwards in life is the resolution to relieving that sense of being lost. But think about it, had whatever happened in your past been for you, you’d still be there, living that life and not where you are now. From family, friends, marriages, relationships, jobs, etc. going back to what once was doesn’t ever work out. Though we sometimes revisit our past for a fresh start, it’s impossible to start anything that was over as the new person it has made you. What we go through in life is forever changing us and it’s up to us to reinvent ourselves to prepare for what’s to come in the future.

Life is always interesting, everyone has a story, and we are all striving to live the best way we can. If you ever feel lost, know that you are not alone, many of us have struggles, hell, most of us struggle with ourselves. So, keep moving forward, spend your time with those that want happiness and success for you, open your heart and mind to what is outside of your comfort zone, and most of all keep your head up…it always all works out as it should. Hugs to all that are lost and stuck in a rut and always remember, you are not alone.

Thursday Thoughts is a weekly series to share my random and personal thoughts with my readers so that they will get to know me a bit more; the series is just for fun, sharing, is therapeutic for me, and to make you think of situations yourself. Hope you enjoy and check out past Thursday Thoughts at the end of this blog.

“As much as you hope for certain situations to be different, you know what goodness you bring; sometimes it’s just not the place you need to be…because if it was, it wouldn’t be so complicated.” ~April Mae Monterrosa
