The Whitehall Hotel- Houston, Texas (Review)

Born and raised in Texas, southern hospitality is something I’ve become accustomed to.  So, traveling throughout Texas, it’s kind of hard not to expect that same treatment everywhere I go. Getting on the road right after work to visit Houston for the rodeo and the Alicia Keys concert, I was exhausted and couldn’t wait to get into a cozy, cool room to nap before the show. My drive from San Antonio to Houston was easy considering the time I left and the way traffic can get in that area. Not being too familiar with Houston’s downtown area, I was a bit worried if I would have trouble finding the Whitehall Hotel and luckily it was very easy to find. When we drove up and into the Whitehall Hotel valet area it had begun to lightly drizzle; what was great about the entrance of the hotel is its completely covered. Had I not valet parked and chose self-parking, we would have still managed to stay dry.

The valet staff was very welcoming and as soon as I walked through the hotel’s front door, I was greeted by the concierge, front desk, and other staff that passed right by with smiles. The hotel is gorgeous and has a great homey feel and good energy. Once I was checked in, the front desk attendant gave me a nice swag bag courtesy of Houston’s visitor’s bureau. (Thank you, Houston!) The Whitewall Hotel didn’t disappoint as far as comfort went. As soon as we walked into our softly lit room, I swear that bed called my name; it was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. I must admit, after my nap, it was hard to get out bed; they were so comfortable and I love all the extra pillows they give you. The spa girl in me always enjoys a hot bath when traveling, the extra bathroom with the garden tub was a big plus for me. I soaked and revitalized myself for the concert as I waited for my room service to arrive. I was impressed how quickly they brought my meal up to the room and how delicious it was.

After seeing the sights of Houston and a good night’s sleep, checking out was a breeze. All my room service and valet fees had been charged and my receipt was slipped under the door. A great touch to the service of the hotel was the phone call to the room from the hotel’s manager, asking if I was pleased with all the hotel had to offer and my stay. The Whitehall Hotel is great for the business traveler, a girl’s weekend, a romantic getaway, downtown tourists, and honeymoons. (We met a newlywed couple that evening still wearing their gown and tuxedo.) Its location is right in the heart of Houston so the views outside your room are cool and many tourist spots including Houston’s tunnel is walking distance. This hotel gem is rich in history, full of modern amenities, and on point with their luxury southern hospitality. I would stay there again and would recommend it to anyone traveling to the Houston downtown area.
